Where do the official placings come from?

Beginning with any class shot in 2021 or later, we have implemented a new process for officials and critiques.

Here is an in-depth overview of the steps involved:

  1. Filming and Practice Contest Format: After filming a livestock judging contest, we upload the video in a Practice Contest format. This enables high school teachers and their students to review the class and practice their judging skills.
  2. Comparing User-Generated Officials: We compare the officials generated by users in the Practice Contest to the officials from the actual live event. If the user-generated officials are within a single pair switch difference from the live contest officials, we utilize the officials given at the event. This approach ensures consistency and aligns with the standards set during the live judging.
  3. Judging by an Unbiased Individual: In cases where the user-generated officials significantly differ from the officials at the live event, we assign a class judge who did not see the class in person. This impartial evaluation helps maintain the integrity of the judging process. The class judge reviews the class based solely on the video and provides their official placings and critiques.

By following these steps, we strive to provide accurate and reliable officiating for all classes, ultimately enhancing the learning experience for high school teachers and their students. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our support team.
