"Ringworm scars" is a term you'll usually hear when talking about sheep. These scars are the result of a ringworm infection. Ringworm is a type of fungal infection that leaves circular lesions on the sheep's skin. Once the infection heals, it often leaves a circular scar. The scar may prevent wool from growing back in that spot, or if wool does regrow, it can be a different color from the rest of the fleece. The size of these scars can vary.
