Today in San Antonio was an awesome day. We had an excellent class of light crosses, predominantly white hogs.

The easiest and initial task for us was to identify the #4 barrow and run him to the bottom. This one stood out for its plain shape, lack of muscle, and misaligned hind leg stance. This clear distinction made ranking within this group straightforward.

Moving on, we were left with a trio. We deliberated as a panel and reached consensus to start with the #1 barrow. While not perfect, this hog needed a bit more front shape and had moderate chest width. However, its frontal appearance was impressive, exuding confidence in its stance and strong leg structure. Moreover, it possessed more than enough muscle, checking all the boxes for our criteria in this class.

The next thing we did was find the #3 barrow and put him in second place. This animal closely resembled the class winner in its neat appearance up front and exhibited a remarkable shape behind its shoulders and along its top line. Nevertheless, upon closer inspection, there were areas that needed improvement, particularly in its body cavity and hind skeleton. Despite these minor flaws, it remained an attractive hog with a pleasing physique.

Consequently, we slotted the third position to the #2 barrow, another highly muscled hog with excellent openness, albeit requiring enhancement in its frontal appearance and foot size. This hog, while commendable, still had room for refinement.

Overall, it was a competitive class, and as a committee, we liked it 1-3-2-4.
